Gemma Tetlow

Gemma is Chief Economist at the Institute for Government. She works across the institute’s programmes of work, which aim to improve the effectiveness of government through providing rigorous research and analysis, topical commentary and offering a space for discussion and fresh thinking. She is currently leading a specific programme of work looking at the barriers to tax reform and how they could be overcome. Previously, she was Economics Correspondent at the Financial Times, reporting on economic developments in the UK and globally. Before that, she led the Institute for Fiscal Studies’ work on public finances and pensions.
