Membership 2026 Annual Returns
Completing your Annual Return is a core yearly requirement for ATT and CIOT members and ADIT Affiliates and only takes a few minutes to complete. Only those with retired or student membership status are exempt from completing the return.
As a direct response to feedback received, we have changed the due date for submission of the Annual Return to the end of February next year. For the 2026 Annual Return, this means the new deadline is 28 February 2027. The extension is to support all members to submit their returns on time.
Why your Annual Return matters
Submission of your return is mandatory and required each year. It ensures we have complete, accurate and up-to-date information on our members.
It is a key element in our monitoring, and being seen to monitor, compliance with the high professional standards we expect our members to observe. Monitoring and enforcement of standards helps to ensure our members maintain their professional reputation for excellence in taxation.
Why timely submission is important
It supports us to support you. We follow up with members where answers indicate further guidance or action is needed to meet membership, legal and/or regulatory requirements. The information provided also helps us focus our activities to meet members’ needs.
Timely submission avoids disciplinary follow-up, including financial penalties and referrals to the Taxation Disciplinary Board.
What the extended deadline means for you
The new deadline for your 2026 Annual Return is 28 February 2027. This extension provides extra time to submit your return on time. We will expect all members to meet this due date.

We recommend that members:
- prioritise timely submission, as it is an essential membership requirement;
- start your submission well before the new final due date;
- review your answers for accuracy and completeness; and
- submit, save the confirmation, and respond promptly to any follow-up queries.
