VAT default surcharge – progress update

We engaged with HMRC several months ago on the operation of the default surcharge. This included meeting HMRC officers and then commenting on proposed new methods of communication with taxpayers affected. HMRC have told us that their resulting actions have had a noticeable, positive impact. We will continue to follow up but want to emphasise that, in matters such as this, it is what members tell us that enables us to better engage with HMRC.
