CIOT and ATT Joint Presidents’ Reception at Edinburgh Castle
Tax crowd storm the castle: Edinburgh Castle was the setting for this year’s CIOT/ATT Joint Presidents’ Reception, which took place at the end of May.
CIOT President Nichola Ross Martin (pictured above) and ATT Deputy President Barry Jefferd (standing in for ATT President Graham Batty) welcomed over 100 guests to the event, including professionals from the Scottish tax, accountancy and legal professions, government, HMRC and other professional bodies.
Among the guests at the event were JP Marks, HMRC First Permanent Secretary and Chief Executive, and Johanna Boyd, the new Chief Executive of Revenue Scotland, the country’s devolved tax authority.
The event took place within the heart of the castle’s grounds. Guests were invited to enjoy a tour of the Great Hall, described as a wonder of medieval Scotland, before drinks, networking and dancing in the Queen Anne Room.
The event was given added poignancy with the presentation of a posthumous ATT Council award in recognition of Richard Todd, ATT’s President between 2021 and 2022, who sadly died earlier this year. Richard’s wife Andrea and his daughter Stephanie were on hand to collect the award in his memory.
