Tax education: celebrating the next generation

Supporting students at the start of their professional journey is an important part of CIOT’s work to raise awareness of tax as a rewarding and varied career. This year, university prizes sponsored by CIOT celebrated academic excellence, progress and achievement across accounting, tax and law courses.

Swansea University

At Swansea University, three final-year accounting students were recognised following their tax studies. Charlotte Morgan received the Best Performing Student award, Morgan Hurley was named Most Improved Student and Ieuan Francis achieved the Best Taxation Score.

The prizes acknowledged not only strong academic performance but also the commitment and progress shown by students developing the knowledge and skills that can lead to a career in tax.

University of Warwick

CIOT also sponsored two new prizes at the University of Warwick’s Law School. Anna Sokolova received the prize for the highest mark in Taxation, Law, Policy and Principles, while Stefania Golumbeanu was recognised for achieving the highest mark in Corporate Law.

The awards were presented by Salema Hafiz, CIOT Head of Business Development and Marketing, as part of the university’s graduation celebrations. CIOT was delighted to celebrate with colleagues from the Law School and congratulate both students as they look ahead to further study and careers connected to taxation.

Congratulations to all five prize winners, and thanks to Swansea University and University of Warwick for their support. By working with universities and recognising student achievement, CIOT aims to encourage more talented people to discover the breadth of opportunities available across the tax profession. Their future is bright.
